"Mama, I'm not a doll!"

I belong to an online community of women who all had babies in April of this year. Someone mentioned something about these things called "babylegs" that are basically baby leg warmers. I've been looking for them and flat out refuse to spend 14 bucks per pair. So I bought a couple of cheap pairs of halloween knee socks and cut the toes out of them. Voila! Instant baby leg-warmers. And now, I could quite possibly be addicted to making them and dressing my poor child up in them regularly. There will be pictures of the insane cutness of them, just as soon as I can find the camera card. But he's stylin' orange and black argyle with skulls and crossbones. The next generation of heavy metal-head has arrived!

The little man is currently teething and he's being absolutely fabulous about it. There's some fussing, of course, but for the most part he's just intent on shoving everything within reach into his mouth and gumming it to death. Including (but not limited too...) my nose, the cat, every toy he has, my cell phone, and his books. We need to work on learning that books have a different purpose than as teethers.

He is currently curled up at my feet asleep and Brooklyn's asleep in her crib. So I think I'll join them while I have the chance.

"Bunnies in my Oatmeal"

I started this blog for a couple of reasons. Knowing how much both my parents and Mark's mom miss seeing the baby, I thought that they (and everyone else that loves Jake and wants to see what mischief he's gotten into this week) would like to have a place that they could go to get regular(-ish) updates. Also, since I've been watching the new baby girl of a couple I know at nights, it's occurred to me just HOW fast time is going. I've meant to write everything down over the last five months so that my post-partum fogged mind didn't forget all the little moments-the good, the bad, and those involving baby bodily fluids. This totally hasn't happened as it's taken me all five months to feel like I've gotten SOME semblance of a routine back, though I'm not anywhere even close to being as productive as I'd like. So writing it down here will be a way to make sure I catch all the new little things my baby boy does every day.

I'd like to say this will be updated every day, but anyone who knows me well knows better:) The half dozen journals I've started and then abandoned and the livejournal that seems to get updated only when the planets converge and the stars align just right prove otherwise. Plus, we don't have internet at the moment and having to take a feisty baby to the coffee shop kind of hinders the writing process. But I'll make a huge effort to update as regularly as possible and I'll make sure to include lots of adorable smoooshy-ness in the form of pictures to tide everyone over.

And for your first dose of cuteness...
